So what on earth are New Year’s resolutions for anyway?  You make plenty, you make a few, when you get back to them the next year, oh well, don’t ask…  Har har.  Several of them you didn’t even make any attempt to do.  But you make them again.  Again and again, year after year until you get to that point where you realize you’ve got to review those notes at least once within the twelve-month period of time to know how you’re doing! 

I grew up making new year’s resolutions every year, but to this date, I must admit I haven’t perfected a single list.  My gosh this is disgusting – no – this is embarrassing!  I’m old and I can’t even keep up with myself! 

Well, this time, I’m calling them “Goals”, instead of “Resolutions”, for a change.  I’ve begun studying how to convert  PSD’s to xhtmls, and well, at this point in time, I’m struggling!  But I’m definitely going to do this.  I also intend to learn PHP.  Hubby is personally tutoring me, in between his work, and I know I drive him crazy sometimes!  He knows I really want to do this, and yes, he wants me to learn this too.  Hubby is such a genius that he like, learns everything in a breeze.  I can’t do that, but I do have the urge to prove to myself that I haven’t lost interest in continuous self- improvement, just because I’m getting old… aargh.. sometimes I just hate reality!  Hopefully, by the end of 2009, I should be able to develop websites side by side with hubby.. oh and I sure am looking forward to that!  … Just between you and me, hubby and I are already really, really close, but I know this will definitely make us extremely close!  That hits two birds with one stone, doesn’t it?  This is totally exciting!

Anyway, that’s one thing I like about making resolutions.  Well, this time I call them goals.  They give me a new set of good things to look forward to at the end of the year.  I may get demoralized a bit after reviewing the previous ones I made, but having the new set makes me feel a bit better.  I like having positive thoughts at the beginning of every year.  As Henry David Thoreau said, “Thought is the sculptor who can create the person you want to be.”

Oh, and by the way, I’ve also promised myself to keep this blog really busy all year round!

So here’s a toast to you and me and all the others who have made their goals, resolutions, whatever they call them, for the coming year!
